Juventus enter talks for Atletico Madrid full-back Nahuel Molina

Juventus have initiated talks with Atletico Madrid for the potential signing of full-back Nahuel Molina, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

With Newcastle United pressing for Nicolo Savona, Juventus have prioritised strengthening the right-back position this summer.

Molina has emerged as a top target for the Old Lady, and the Argentine could be on his way out of Wanda Metropolitano.

The 2022 World Cup winner has endured a fluctuating spell at Atletico, losing his starting spot to Marcos Llorente last season.

Los Rojiblancos are open to offloading the former Udinese star to balance the books, having made a flurry of new signings this summer.

Moreover, they need to generate funds for top defensive target Renato Viega. Chelsea have turned down Atlético’s offer worth €35 million for the Portuguese star.

The Spanish giants value Molina at €25-30 million, but Juve deem the price higher.

Instead, the Bianconeri are exploring a loan move with an obligation to buy, with negotiations set to continue between the two clubs.

Despite interest from Saudi Arabia, Juventus can be an appealing destination for Molina due to his experience in Serie A and the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season.

The 27-year-old can adapt between the full-back and wing-back roles, meaning he will be a perfect fit for Igor Tudor’s system.

Juve have also been offered a chance to sign Porto right-back Joao Mario in a swap deal involving Alberto Costa during the negotiations with the Portuguese giants.

Canadian striker Jonatha David has been the only signing for Juve this summer, with more reinforcements expected to follow.

They are working on a deal to sign Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, and Sporting midfielder Morten Hjulmand is also on the wishlist.
