Al-Hilal keen on signing Newcastle striker Alexander Isak

Al-Hilal are interested in signing Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Saudi Pro League (SPL) club are exploring several attacking targets this summer. One of their top targets was Victor Osimhen, but he appears to be staying in Europe.

They have now switched their attention to Isak, who enjoyed a brilliant campaign with Newcastle last season.

He bagged 27 goals and six assists in all competitions, establishing himself as a vital player under manager Eddie Howe.

Isak also helped Newcastle win the League Cup, ending a long wait for a major trophy that had stretched back to the 1950s.

His outstanding performances earned him a place on the list of nominees for the PFA awards. However, Newcastle have not shown any desire to sell Isak this summer.

Liverpool drop Isak pursuit, turn to Ekitike

Liverpool were also among the clubs monitoring Isak’s situation this summer.

But after learning about Newcastle’s unwillingness to sell, the Merseyside club walked away from the deal.

They are now pursuing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. He is a more realistic target for the Reds, who want to strengthen their attacking options.

Al-Hilal’s interest in Isak is no surprise. He has established himself as one of the top strikers in the world, and signing him would be a coup for the SPL club.

However, it would be surprising if Isak turned his back on European football to play in a footballing backwater.
