The brass at La Liga champions Barcelona are inching towards making the call to push back their return to the Spotify Camp Nou once more.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Wednesday provided an insight into the situation.
The news which all of a Barcelona persuasion had been so eagerly awaiting was of course finally forthcoming last month.
This came in the form of an announcement, confirming the club’s planned return date to the renovated Spotify Camp Nou.
The intention, it was revealed, was to play the annual Joan Gamper Trophy match at the ground on August 10th.
As alluded to above, however, this week, such plans have been thrown into disarray once more.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Barça are close to suspending the celebration of the Joan Gamper trophy at the Spotify Camp Nou scheduled for August 10.’
Whilst progress towards the Camp Nou’s grand reopening is continuing all the time, it is now considered highly unlikely that Barcelona will receive the necessary permits in time for the Gamper clash.
A September 14th La Liga fixture against Valencia, in turn, is now considered the most likely return date.
