The Athletic reports that Liverpool has made contact with Eintracht Frankfurt over their striker Hugo Ekitiké.
Earlier this week, Newcastle were seemingly the front runners for the 23-year-old as they had a bid rejected by the Bundesliga side, now Liverpool have expressed their interest as they look to sign a striker this summer.
This becomes slightly more complicated when it was reported yesterday that the Premier League champions are also interested in Newcastle striker Aleksander Isak. Bild reports that Liverpool are toying with the idea of signing both Isak and Ekitiké, but this seems rather fanatical as it would cost at least €250m for the pair, on top of the €150m they have already spent on Florian Wirtz this summer.
The future of Ekitiké is set to be one of the next big transfer sagas in German football this summer. The positive for Frankfurt is that now they can ignite a bidding war between the Premier League winners and a club owned by the Saudi government, meaning they can once again make a hefty profit on a striker.
