Stephen A. Smith is one of the most recognizable faces on American sports television today. While he has a decorated journalistic background with basketball, his opinions when it comes to the big narratives in the
NFL are worth taking note of.
The ESPN analyst has always provided an edge of entertainment on his daily show First Take, which grabs the interest of casual fans of the sport. He doesn’t shy away from having strong opinions about players, teams and coaches. Despite Smith not being to everyone’s taste, he remains a respectable figure in the punditry world of American Football. While he has had his say on who the greatest NFL player of all time is in the past, Smith can go to the other end of the spectrum and take shots at those he feels deserve it.
Like everyone else, Smith has his preferences and even dislikes, and he certainly won’t go hiding when controversial topics might come up from time to time.

Stephen A Smith’s Well-Documented Dislike for the Dallas Cowboys
He didn’t mince his words when sharing
Smith’s dislike for the
Dallas Cowboys didn’t crop up overnight. While there is no certain event that seems to have triggered this animosity, it could originate from appearing alongside Cowboys fan Skip Bayless every week. Speaking during an interview on CNN’s Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?, Smith was asked directly why he hates the Cowboys so much.
Because their fans are truly the most nauseating, disgusting fan base in American history. If they went 1-16 and the season ended on January 5 at 7 pm, by 7:15 pm they would go ‘you know we’re going to win the Super Bowl next year, right?
This is who they are. They can pass gas, and they’ll tell you it’s perfume. This is what they do. You get just so sick and tired of listening to them. I don’t know, as a sports guy, if anything brings me more pleasure than seeing Cowboys fans miserable.
Smith once created a music video trolling the Cowboys fans after their 48-32 playoff defeat to the
Green Bay Packers. Not only is he not fond of the Cowboys fans themselves, but he also thinks the team will struggle, especially after Week 11 of the 2025 season. The newly-appointed head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, will have to contend with six prime-time games. They will host the
Philadelphia Eagles, the
Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving Day, and a trip to the
Detroit Lions will wrap up what will be a 13-game stretch. It was here he repeated the claims that the Cowboys were a “nauseating, delusional, disgusting fanbase.”
I see a nosedive taking place after Week 11 [at Las Vegas Raiders on MNF]. I see the Dallas Cowboys losing at least three or four of those games. At least.
