Luis Enrique Involved in Physical Altercation With Joao Pedro After Chelsea 3-0 PSG

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique fully lost his head at the final whistle after his side lost the Club World Cup final 3-0 to Chelsea. The French outfit were strong favourites going into the match, but were blown away by their Premier League opponents.

Having won the Champions League and then comfortably beaten Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan on the way to the final, PSG were expected to beat the Blues. However, the Europa Conference League winners were electric on the day.

Cole Palmer put in a Man of the Match display, scoring two fine goals before Joao Pedro made it 3-0 before half-time. Chelsea then held PSG at bay for the remainder of the game as they went on to be crowned Club World Cup champions.

Towards the end of the match, though, tempers flared. First, Joao Neves was sent off after yanking Marc Cucurella’s hair. And then, Luis Enrique was seen charging into Pedro.

It remains unclear what exactly happened to provoke the physical altercation – beyond the frustration of defeat – but PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who was involved in Jamal Musiala’s horror injury earlier on in the competition, also appeared to be a key figure in the clash.

That said, the footage seems to capture Luis Enrique reaching for Pedro’s throat. The Brazilian then hit the deck in dramatic fashion as more players rushed to the scene.

PSG lost just twice in Ligue 1 all season, on their way to winning that competition, so clearly aren’t used to defeats. Even so, they had lost to Botafogo in the group stage of the Club World Cup, before going on to win every other game en route to the final.

Coming up against Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea, however, they finally ran out of steam. Pedro, who only joined in time to play in the final three games of the competition, has wasted no time in making himself a fan favourite, scoring three times before then being involved in this clash with the PSG coach.
