Bayern Munich have made an enquiry about the availability of Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto, according to L’Equipe.
The 22-year-old joined Chelsea in January 2023 and has quickly established himself as a prominent squad member, making over 80 appearances for the Blues since his arrival.
Bayern’s interest in Gusto comes amid uncertainty over the future of their current right-back options. They mainly deployed Konrad Laimer in that position last season due to injuries to Sacha Boey and Josip Stanisic.
At least one of Boey or Stanisic is expected to depart the Allianz Arena this summer, and Bayern will need to bring in a replacement.
The Bundesliga club have been keeping tabs on Gusto since his time at Lyon before he completed a €35m move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are not actively looking to sell Gusto, who is under contract until 2030. However, the situation is complicated by the presence of club captain Reece James, whose return to fitness could limit Gusto’s playing time.
Gusto is also strictly a traditional full-back and is not comfortable inverting into midfield like Enzo Maresca demands sometimes. Additionally, the emergence of highly rated youngster Josh Acheampong has given Chelsea further options at right-back, potentially making Gusto expendable if the right offer arrives.
Chelsea are sanctioning several departures at the moment, and Gusto’s future at Stamford Bridge could be one to keep an eye on.
The Blues have recently agreed deals with Arsenal and Bournemouth for Noni Madueke and Djordje Petrovic respectively, while more exits are imminent.

For now, though, Chelsea’s focus is on Sunday’s Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain.
