Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (36) is close to a departure from Al-Qadsiah, only a year after joining the club from Olympique de Marseille. It was earlier reported that Marseille have been in contact with their former striker to discuss whether a move would be feasible.
Last summer, the Ligue 1 side had been keen on keeping Aubameyang following a successful season where he scored 30 goals and registered 11 assists in 51 games. However, relented after receiving confirmation from the striker that he wanted to join the Saudi Arabian side.
However, Marseille will face stiff competition to secure his signature. Foot Mercato writes that clubs in the Premier League, as well as the MLS, the Süper Lig, Serie A, Spain, and also in Saudi Arabia are all waiting for the forward to terminate his contract with Al-Qadsiah.
Marseille will also face challenges from France, with the French outlet noting that Ligue 1 clubs have been paying close attention to his situation.
