According to a report from Foot Mercato, FC Augsburg are in advanced discussions with Burnley FC for Frenchman Han-Noah Massengo (24).
The former France youth international spent the latter half of last season on loan in Ligue 1 with AJ Auxerre, helping the newly promoted club remain in the top flight and record an 11th-place finish (11 points clear of the relegation playoff spot).
Auxerre had been hopeful that they could keep the midfielder in Burgundy on a permanent deal, and Foot Mercato writes that discussions seemed positive, but ultimately, no progress was made. A situation which now looks as if it might mean Auxerre will lose out on a player who has spent two loan spells on their books.
Augsburg are looking to swoop in and bring Massengo to the Bundesliga. The German club have begun negotiations with their Premier League counterparts and are looking to offer a five-year contract to the Frenchman.
