After six months at Olympique de Marseille, Luiz Felipe (28) has found a new club and will join Rayo Vallecano on a season-long contract. The La Liga team have officially confirmed the signing of the centre-back today on a free transfer.
Luiz Felipe’s time in Marseille was short and came to a premature end, with L’Équipe writing that his contract was terminated on the 30th of June, despite having signed a deal that would last until 2026. He struggled to make an impact on the team, appearing only four times after arriving in the winter transfer window from Al-Ittihad.
There were concerns from the outset that he would not be physically fit, having struggled with injury problems in the first half of the campaign in Saudi Arabia. However, Marseille were willing to take a gamble on a free transfer for a player with proven experience in Serie A and La Liga.
