Lando Norris won the British Grand Prix for the first time in his career on Sunday afternoon. The McLaren driver started the race in third behind teammate George Piastri and Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen.
After maintaining his position from the start, Norris profited massively following an incident involving the two drivers in front of him. The Great British racer took the lead when Verstappen spun out following a safety car restart and Piastri was given a 10-second penalty.
Norris held the lead for the remainder of the race to take the chequered flag ahead of Piastri, while Kick Sauber’s Nico Hülkenberg took third, the first podium of his career in his 239th race.

Lando Norris Suffers Freak Injury Following British GP
He was struck in the face
There was an unfortunate moment after the race when Norris suffered a freak injury. As he carried the trophy around the paddock, he suffered a facial injury as a photographer fell back into him when a fence collapsed.
The 25-year-old immediately clutched his face after the incident and was escorted back to his garage to receive medical attention. Fortunately, though, the injury was not serious and he only received a cut on his nose.
It’s not the first time has sported a nose injury at the track. He arrived at the Miami Grand Prix with a plaster over his nose. Speaking about his injury after the British GP, Norris said, per PlanetF1:
“Long story, but now I have two scars on my nose. One was lonely, so now I’ve got two. But it’s all part of the memories of Silverstone.”
Despite the unfortunate injury, Norris was jubilant after winning his home race and cutting the gap to Piastri at the top of the World Championship standings to just 8 points. He said, per the Guardian:
“This victory is everything I dreamed of. Being on top at your home race is very, very special. Looking up at the fans and seeing them on their feet, your mind just goes pretty blank. I was just trying to enjoy the moment.
“These are moments that none of you guys get to witness. This is only something that I and very few Brits have achieved. It is a selfish moment, in a way, but so special and incredible because it is such a rare thing to feel and witness.
“For me, it is my best win, maybe not the best way to win, but in terms of what it means to me, winning at home, it is very memorable. Apart from winning a championship, this is as good as it gets.”
