The Mainz marksman said goodbye to Mainz fans as he joins the Hessen giants.
After weeks of speculation linking Jonathan Burkardt to Eintracht Frankfurt, the deal has finally been completed.
Earlier this morning on Friday, Sky Germany gave an update on the striker whose move to the Hessen club was imminent.
After playing a crucial role in guiding Mainz back to European football while netting 18 goals, Burkardt thanked Die Nullfünfer fans:
“I would like to express my deep gratitude for these wonderful ten years,” Burkardt said in an emotional farewell video shared by the club.
“Unfortunately, the moment has now come; my football journey in Mainz ends here, I would like to express my deep gratitude for these wonderful ten years,” he added.
The 24-year-old’s deal with Die Adler will run until 2030 while the overall package amounted to €23million.
