Bayern Munich have added Chelsea defender Renato Veiga to their list of potential targets for the summer (h/t Fabrizio Romano).
The Portuguese star is expected to leave Stamford Bridge after being deemed surplus to requirements.
Picked up from Basel last summer, Chelsea loaned out the 21-year-old to Juventus in January for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
Veiga was one of the several players snubbed by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca for the Club World Cup squad.
Bayern have identified the Portuguese international as one of the potential replacements for Kim Min-jae.
The South Korean centre-back is facing an uncertain future at Allianz Arena, with Bayern open to selling him for a considerable offer.
Jonathan Tah’s arrival on a free transfer has put Kim’s position under threat.
The German defender has been impressive for the Bavarians in the Club World Cup, featuring in every game.
Veiga’s versatility to play as a centre-back, left-back and in the midfield makes him a valuable prospect.
He has performed well even with the limited opportunities at Chelsea and was part of Portugal’s side that defeated Spain in the final to lift the UEFA Nations League title last month.
Veiga also became a regular for Igor Tudor’s side in Serie A, playing a pivotal role in securing a spot in the Champions League.
Bayern could also utilise him as a left-back, with Raphael Guerreiro linked with an exit this summer.
The Blues could be looking to fetch more than €25 million with Veiga’s departure.
Bayern are looking to add depth to the defence following the departure of Eric Dier to AS Monaco.

Injuries to Kim and Hiroki Ito leave Bayern with Dayot Upamecano and Tah as the only reliable centre-back options.
But the Bundesliga champions are currently prioritising a left-winger, with Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford topping their wishlist.
