Strasbourg have completed the permanent signing of Argentina international left-back Valentín Barco (20) from Brighton & Hove Albion FC, both clubs have confirmed. The Alsatians have triggered the automatic purchase clause in his loan deal. The deal is understood to be worth €10m, and follows Strasbourg’s recent moves to make Andrew Omobamidele and Samuel Amo-Ameyaw’s stays permanent.
Barco spent the second half of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 campaign on loan with Strasbourg. The left-back delivered eye-catching performances in his 15 appearances under the tutelage of Liam Rosenior. “This is a move that suits all parties, and we wish Valentin the best of luck for the future”, said BHAFC Technical Director David Weir. Valentin Barco is now under contract with Strasbourg until 2029.
