Liverpool could look to spring a surprise move for Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman in the coming weeks, according to reports – with the Reds thought to be eyeing up a move for the Nigerian international by ‘keeping a keen eye’ on bringing him back to the Premier League after a three-year hiatus from the top-flight.
Liverpool may not see a winger as a priority just yet in the transfer markets, with a striker still firmly in their sights should Darwin Nunez depart the club, but Lookman becoming one of Italy’s leading stars may just have pushed boss Arne Slot to consider him if enough plates move in the Anfield attacking department.
Report: Liverpool Keeping a ‘Keen Eye’ on Ademola Lookman Transfer
The former Everton star could return to Merseyside in the peak of his powers
The report by CaughtOffside states that, despite Arsenal having ‘restarted negotiations’ with Atalanta for Lookman with an asking price of up to £43million, a deal is not set in stone and the player wants to return to the Premier League after stints at Everton, Fulham and West Ham United.

As a result, Liverpool are keeping a keen eye on the former Merseyside resident, with Slot looking for goals from out wide to assist with a new signing up front.
Mohamed Salah will look to replicate last season’s exploits after his combined 47 goals and assists in the Premier League last season, whilst Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz will battle it out for spaces on the left-hand side of the pitch.
However, with Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa’s futures looking uncertain, it remains to be seen where the Reds duo will end up and if they do depart, a replacement will be needed on the flanks.
Lookman endured the best season of his career last year, scoring 17 goals and recording 10 assists as Atalanta came in the top four of Serie A as well as winning the Europa League over Bayer Leverkusen to end the German’s entire unbeaten campaign – with Lookman scoring a hat-trick in the final, seeing him labelled as ‘one of the best players in the world’.
This season just gone saw him become even more prolific with 15 goals in Serie A, though the Bergamo-based side failed to win a trophy and therefore his career could be away from Lombardy.
