St.Pauli have acquired a Japanese talent from the Belgian league.
FC St.Pauli has signed Joel Chima Fujita, the Bundesliga club officially announced this afternoon.
Fujita, a 23-year-old central midfielder, is moving from Belgian first division club VV St. Truiden to the Millerntor.
In 27 appearances in the Jupiter Pro League last season, he managed to provide 3 assists as his market value rose to €3million.
According to a variety of media reports, Fujita’s contract with the Hanseatic club runs until summer of 2029.
On the way to signing Fujita, St.Pauli had to fend off the likes of Besiktas, who were also interested.
Head coach Alexander Blessin said of the three-time Japanese international: “What I particularly like about Joel is his courage and clarity in his game.
“He’s extremely active and has a good sense of space. He intercepts balls and has a clean passing game. This makes him a perfect fit for our game,” he added.
