Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly targeting Leicester City midfielder Bilal El Khannouss as a possible signing this summer, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The Bundesliga club recently sold star midfielder Florian Wirtz to Liverpool. They are now actively searching for a creative replacement ahead of next season.
El Khannouss is high on their list. The club have shown interest in the 21-year-old since his days at Belgian club Genk.
He joined Leicester City in a deal worth around £21 million. The move came after a strong season in Belgium, where he impressed with his technique and creativity.
In his debut Premier League season, the Moroccan midfielder featured in 32 matches for the Foxes. He contributed two goals and three assists during the 2024/25 campaign.
Leverkusen admire El Khanouus’ versatility

El Khannouss is known for his ability to control games from midfield. He is comfortable in tight spaces and has excellent vision.
He usually operates as an advanced playmaker, driving attacks with clever passes and quick movement. However, he is also capable of playing deeper or out wide.
His passing range, close control and calmness on the ball make him a valuable asset in possession. He often creates space with sharp turns and quick dribbles.
Leverkusen’s interest in him stems from his consistency and tactical awareness. They view him as a long-term option to add depth and quality to their midfield.
Talks are ongoing and the midfielder is open to the move, but no agreement has been reached.
