Serie A side Atalanta have firmly pegged back Newcastle United’s approach for defender Giorgio Scalvini.
Reports had spoken of the Magpies’ liking for the Italian last week and TuttoAtalanta have now reported that Scalvini is seen as ‘untouchable’ by La Dea.
They have expressed their rejection forcefully to Newcastle United, who had proposed a fee that was between €40 million and €50 million for a transfer. That valuation is much lower than what Atalanta value the defender at.
Atalanta believe that the talent is valuable to their ambitions next season as they want to build a team around him from the upcoming campaign onwards.
Their intent this summer is clear and they do not want to lose key players, with attempts being made to keep Gianluca Scamacca in Bergamo despite the keen interest of Roma. Both Scalvini and the striker will now be taken off the market, with only Marco Carnesecchi seen as sellable.
