Sunderland are reportedly eyeing up a transfer move for Atalanta central midfielder Mario Pasalic this summer.
The 30-year-old is just a few days away from the end of his contract with Atalanta, and he’s not expected to sign a new deal with the Serie A giants.
Instead, it’s being widely reported that Pasalic is keen for a move to the Premier League this summer, with clubs looking into his situation.
Sunderland are one of the teams leading the chase for the Croatia international’s signature, along with fellow newly-promoted side Leeds United.
Pasalic was on the books at Chelsea as a youngster but never made a competitive appearance for the Blues.

Mario Pasalic looking for another chance in the Premier League
Having previously failed to make it at Chelsea, it seems Pasalic is now prioritising a return to English football this summer.
The experienced midfielder has done well during his time in Italy, and also had loan spells at clubs like Monaco, Spartak Moscow and Elche earlier in his career.
Sunderland could do well to sign a player of this calibre as they look to put together a squad that could be capable of staying in the Premier League.
It won’t be easy for the Black Cats, but if they can be ambitious and smart with their work in the transfer market, they could have a chance.
Someone like Pasalic on a free transfer looks like a great opportunity and it will be interesting to see if Sunderland can beat Leeds to his signature this summer.
