Tottenham are set to complete a £30m permanent move to sign Mathys Tel, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Lilywhites confirmed the appointment of Danish manager Thomas Frank to replace Ange Postecoglou this week, with the former Brentford man now looking to shape the squad in his own image for the 2025/26 season.
Bayern Munich star Tel joined the club on loan for the second half of the season in the January transfer window and it looked unlikely that he would stay for next season, with the club having agreed a £50m option to buy that was deemed too high.
Tottenham Set to Complete Tel Deal
£30m fee agreed for permanent stay
According to Sky Sports Germany, a deal is now advanced for the France youth international to stay in north London permanently after new manager Frank confirmed his wish to keep him as part of the squad.
Spurs are now set to pay £30m to Bayern Munich for his services, having already paid an £8.5m loan fee in January. Tel will sign a new long-term contract in London, with a deal expected to go through relatively soon.
Tel, who has been described as ‘unbelievable’, scored three goals and registered one assist in all competitions for Spurs during his loan spell, having played primarily as a striker or left winger.
Frank is said to be keen to strengthen his attack having made a bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, but the Cameroon star currently prefers to join Manchester United instead.
Tel made it clear that Champions League football would be a major factor in where he would play his football during the 2025/26 season, and it seems that the Europa League win has now helped Spurs to keep their man.
