kicker reports that Hamburg are interested in Eintracht Braunschweig striker Rayan Philippe as they prepare for their return to the Bundesliga.
Hamburg have already been busy in the summer window, signing Nicolai Remberg from Holstein Kiel to boost their midfield options, while they also signed Jordan Torunarigha from KAA Gent on a free transfer for their defence.
Now they will turn their attention to the striker position.
HSV are interested in Braunschweig’s Philippe, but the price is a problem. Despite nearly getting relegated die Löwen are demanding around €2.5m for the French striker. Mainz did try to sign Philippe earlier in the window but ended up pulling out of the deal, which upset the 24-year-old.
Despite Braunschweig battling relegation for much of the season, Philippe ended the year with 13 goals and six assists in the 2.Bundesliga and most importantly scored in extra-time of the relegation playoff against Saarbrücken, which secured Braunschweig’s second division status.
