Not only that, but GIVEMESPORT’s Ben Jacobs has reported that the outright winner will be commemorated with a special badge for the next four years – until a new champion is crowned, at the next instalment, in 2029. But who is poised to win the competition?
Conducted by the folks over at BoyleSports, via The Sun, a supercomputer – which has simulated the 32-team competition 10,000 times to reach a conclusion – has picked a winner from those who are travelling to the United States this month.
Round of 16
Real Madrid, Chelsea and Dortmund to crash out
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side enter the tournament as one of the heavy favourites, especially in terms of topping Group D. The supercomputer, though, expects them to finish second, meaning they will play Roger Schmidt’s Benfica in the Round of 16.
The Portuguese side, however, are expected to beat the Blues. River Plate’s 4-2 win over Borussia Dortmund may also come as a shock, while Bayern Munich are expected to narrowly beat – in a 1-0 win – ES Tunis, securing passage into the quarter-finals.
Luis Enrique-led Paris Saint-Germain, who beat Inter Milan 5-0 in the 2024/25 Champions League final, are set to have a hangover from their success at Europe’s top table, crashing out to Brazilian outfit Palmeiras in a Round of 16 thriller.

Why Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami Will Play at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025
Football fans will get to see Messi and co play some of the best teams in the world at the tournament.
That is, perhaps, the shock of the tournament as underdog stories go – but there is also another big faller at the Round of 16 stage: Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso, in his first shot at silverware, is set to lose to Manchester City in a narrow 2-1 loss. Inter Milan, having experienced plenty of sorrow in 2024/25, are set to right their wrongs with a 1-0 win over Fluminese.
Al-Hilal, according to the supercomputer, are the only side from Saudi Arabia to make it out of the group stage – but that’s where their Club World Cup story is predicted to end. Juventus are expected to beat the side from the Middle East 3-0.

Quarter-Finals
A replay of 2023 Champions League final between Inter and City
Palmeiras, alongside Argentine giants River Plate, could fly the South American flag high as they both go as far as the quarter-finals – but for the former, who emerged from their group instead of Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, will fall at the quarter-final hurdle.
They’re predicted to be beaten by Bayern Munich – who are led by Harry Kane, one of the best strikers in world football. Elsewhere, Benfica are poised to earn the Portuguese top flight bragging rights by beating Porto 1-0 and progressing into the semi-finals.
A replay of the 2023 Champions League final – Inter Milan vs Manchester City – is set to be one of the biggest matchups of the quarter-finals. The Nerazzurri faced plenty of pain in 2024/25 – and that, unfortunately for them, could continue.
Guardiola and his men are expected to pick up a 2-0 win to send them into the final four, while it will act as a misery complier for the Italians. Juventus, however, are predicted to just squeeze through with a 1-0 win over Marcelo Gallardo’s River Plate outfit.

Bayern Munich handed shock defeat
Into the final four we go – and this is, technically, the crème de la crème of the competition.Bundesligachampions Bayern Munich, managed by Vincent Kompany, would’ve done Germany proud to get to this point, but do they go any further?
To put it simply: no. Benfica, defying the odds once again, are at the races in a 2-1 win over Die Roten with Angel Di Maria, Alvaro Carreras and Orkun Kokcu all playing their part in their run to the final in New Jersey, the United States.

Benfica shock Guardiola’s men
Benfica – who, in other news, are predicted to top a tough group composed of Bayern Munich, Boca Juniors and Auckland City – are set to add another trophy to their bloated cabinet with a shock victory over Manchester City, who are the only team in Premier League history to win four titles in a row.
The supercomputer, after 10,000 simulations, believes that Guardiola, widely regarded as one of the best managers in football history, will guide his men to the showpiece on July 13 – but they’ll come out second best to the Portuguese giants in a narrow 2-1 loss. That would mean that City will finish trophyless.
