After working his way back from a hip injury, Jamal Musiala made his return to Bayern München’s starting eleven in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Union Berlin.
The 19-year-old played a key role for Bayern, setting up Joshua Kimmich’s equaliser, before he was taken off after just 62 minutes.
In a post-match interview, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann revealed that Musiala was subbed off early because he didn’t appear to be completely fit.
“I had the feeling that he is not yet at 100 percent. He kept moving his hip, rotating in and out,” said Nagelsmann.
“He’s a young player, who desperately wants to play and who does us incredible good with his creativity,” added the Bayern coach.
But with an eye on Bayern’s Champions League clash with Inter on Wednesday, Nagelsmann didn’t want to take any risks with the young midfielder.
“Sometimes you just have to intervene a bit to make sure he stays healthy. That’s why we substituted him.”
