Chelsea FC are still considering signing Eintracht Frankfurt centre-forward Hugo Ekitiké (22) but, according to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins, no progress has been made so far regarding a deal with the Bundesliga side. Despite signing English striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, the Conference League winners remain interested in a move for the former Reims and PSG striker.
Last season, Ekitike logged 22 goals in 48 games played for Frankfurt, who qualified for next season’s Champions League. Die Adler and Ekitike are in agreement that the latter should pursue his career elsewhere now that his value has skyrocketed. Negotiations remain underway between Chelsea and Ekitike’s camp.
RMC Sport reports that a meeting took place between the two parties in recent days, even though the deal shows no sign of progression. Frankfurt’s €100m price tag on their prized asset is probably the reason why. The report adds that the Bundesliga side has no intention yet of lowering its demands.
