Miralem Pjanic considering offer from UAE club Sharjah FC

Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic is considering an offer from Sharjah FC in the United Arab Emirates, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 32-year-old experienced central midfielder has managed just 30 appearances for the Blaugranas since his €60 million move from Juventus.

All his 30 appearances in a Barca shirt came in his first campaign at the club, but the Bosnia & Herzegovina star has spent most of his time with the Spanish giants as a fringe player since then.

Pjanic spent the last campaign on loan at Besiktas JK, where he made 26 appearances across all competitions, contributing four assists.

Despite not being in Xavi’s plans, he failed to secure a move away from the Spotify Camp Nou after returning from his loan spell in Turkey and is yet to play a single minute for Barca this season.

However, Sharjah FC are now offering the former Olympique Lyonnais and AS Roma midfielder a way out of Spain with their transfer window still open.

The UAE club is offering to take Pjanic on a permanent transfer with a three-year contract on the table. The player is said to be tempted by the proposal and is weighing up his options.

Barca will not stand in his way should he choose to leave the club, and the deal could be completed sooner rather than later with the final details being discussed between all parties involved.

Barca spent heavily during the transfer window looking to provide Xavi with a team strong enough to challenge Real Madrid for the La Liga crown and also compete in the Champions League.

The club are looking to free up their wage bill and have let go of several fringe players, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Samuel Umtiti, Martin Braithwaite, and Clement Lenglet.

Pjanic would be the next senior team player through the exit door once all the details of the deal have been sorted.
