Arsenal believe a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is effectively done, despite the 26-year-old recently casting doubt on a summer move to the Emirates, journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed.
The Spain international said he ‘does not know’ where he will be playing next season and praised Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso during a press conference while on international duty on Tuesday, but Bailey claims personnel at Arsenal are ‘not at all worried’ by his recent comments.
There is reportedly a sense at the Emirates that the deal is already in place, despite Zubimendi’s remarks prompting concern among some Arsenal supporters:
“They are not worried, they knew these things might come up when Xabi Alonso was appointed.
“From what I am told, this is happening – it is a done deal. But obviously, the fans want to see that picture of him holding the shirt up, signed and sealed. Until that point, speculation is open to continue.”
