Ipswich Town are reportedly showing strong interest in signing Chelsea striker Marc Guiu on loan, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Championship club are working on strengthening their squad after being relegated from the Premier League.
They are focused on building a team that can challenge for immediate promotion back to the top flight.
Following the expected departure of Liam Delap to Chelsea in a £30 million deal, Ipswich need a new forward.
The club views Guiu as a potential short-term solution who can lead their attack next season.
Although the two deals are not directly linked, the positive relationship between the clubs could smooth the pathway for the move.
Guiu could lead the Ipswich attack next season

The young striker has been praised for his strength, quick movement and sharp awareness inside the box.
He is often described as a ‘specialist in the area’ due to his ability to use space and time his runs smartly.
Despite limited chances at Chelsea this season, Guiu scored six goals in 14 appearances.
All of his goals came in the Europa Conference League, where he showed plenty of promise.
Guiu made headlines during the campaign after scoring three goals against Shamrock Rovers, becoming the youngest player in the club’s history to bag a European hat-trick.
If the deal goes through, Guiu would be expected to play a key role in Ipswich’s promotion push.
Ipswich are confident they can secure his services, even though a final agreement has not yet been reached.
