Summary
- AI has named five players Ruben Amorim must sign in order to save his Manchester United future.
- United are in for a big summer with major incomings and departures planned.
- Two of Amorim’s former players have been listed.
With the 2024/25 season out of the way, Ruben Amorim can now look to the future after telling Manchester United fans on the final day of the season not to focus on the past. Amorim’s first six months at Old Trafford could hardly have gone worse. There was no improvement in their domestic form, which saw them finish 15th in the Premier League, while they also lost a European final to Tottenham.
For many, that would be enough to warrant the sack. But Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co. have put their faith in Amorim and his 3-4-2-1 system, and now they must ensure recruitment this summer is spot on to bring in players who fit the coach’s tactics. Given the club are strapped for cash, this will likely be funded by the sales of stars like Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford.
Truth be told, a complete squad overhaul is needed at the Theatre of Dreams. But for one transfer window, that’s not realistic. You’ll likely be able to count the number of additions on one hand when all is said and done. And so, with that in mind, GIVEMESPORT have asked ChatGPT to name the five players Amorim should bring in this summer in order to save his job.

Matheus Cunha
Wolves
The AI is certainly keeping up to date with current news, as Matheus Cunha was its first pick for Rúben Amorim to bring to Old Trafford. The Brazilian is set to complete a move from Wolves and become the first signing of the summer for the club, having already shown his Premier League quality.
When naming its reasons for why Cunha should be brought in, the AI stated that “his pressing and energy can set the tone from the front, helping implement Amorim’s aggressive off-ball system,” while also noting that his fluidity across the front three makes him all the more appealing, stating that he can “lead the line or drop into midfield.”
It went on to say: “By delivering immediate attacking fluency and work rate in the final third, Cunha can spearhead visible tactical improvement” – something that will be vital in helping Amorim silence the doubters as he enters his first full season.
Bryan Mbeumo
Brentford
With one half of the double number ten conundrum sorted, the AI has decided to add a bit more quality on the other. This time with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. In the absence of Ivan Toney, the Cameroonian notched 20 Premier League goals this season and has some major suitors eyeing him up.
“Perfect for the right-sided attacking midfield slot behind the striker,” claimed ChatGPT. “Cuts in on his left, presses relentlessly, and links play.” While also noting that the likes of Antony and Jadon Sancho have struggled in that area of the pitch, the AI explained why Mbeumo is the perfect fit in this front three.
“Amorim’s system lives and dies by attacking movement and pressing. Mbeumo instantly raises the tempo and intensity, giving the new manager a clear signature on the pitch.”
It does beg the question, what happens to Amad Diallo?

Morten Hjulmand
Sporting CP
Erik ten Hag was often criticised for bringing in players that he had worked with in the past to United, with varying degrees of success. However, ChatGPT reckons that Amorim doing the same — not once, but twice — will be key.
Interestingly, the Portuguese coach worked with Manuel Ugarte at Sporting CP, and replaced him with Morten Hjulmand. And now, the AI has suggested he makes the same move again. Citing the Dane as a “natural pivot in a double midfield role,” it is stated that the 25-year-old “offers balance in midfield, covers defensive ground, and aids transitions — something Casemiro can no longer do consistently.”
“Hjulmand is a manager’s extension on the pitch. His familiarity with Amorim’s system gives the team a tactical foundation from Day 1, minimising the growing pains of transition.”
Goncalo Inacio
Sporting CP
For those who assumed the second Sporting player that the AI was going to call upon would be Viktor Gyokeres, you’re in for a surprise. The Swede is not listed in the five, but central defender Goncalo Inacio is. The 23-year-old was linked with a move to Liverpool a year ago, around the same time that Amorim was touted as a candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp.
Neither came to fruition, but as a “composed, left-footed ball-playing CB which is essential for the left slot in Amorim’s back three,” Inacio could fill a role that hasn’t truly been replaced since Lisandro Martinez’s injury. Ayden Heaven has shown potential there, and Luke Shaw has struggled. Given Martinez’s injury record over the last two seasons, bringing in another reliable option may be a good shout.
Inacio “brings clarity in build-up, positional discipline, and strong familiarity with the manager’s defensive structures,” all of which will be necessary to stabilise things at the back — especially if Andre Onana stays for one more season.

Dusan Vlahovic
Juventus
The proposed number nine by AI. Not Gyokeres. Not Victor Osimhen. Not even Liam Delap. Instead, ChatGPT has backed United to make a move for Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian’s future in Italy is uncertain, with links to Arsenal and Chelsea surrounding him.
The 25-year-old is described as: “A classic No. 9 who can hold up play, attack crosses, and bully defenders.” It is also noted that his flexibility in terms of how he can lead the line offers more versatility when trying to break down the opposition in tight games.
Crucially though, Vlahovic scores goals—something none of United’s strikers have consistently done, with the AI saying:
“A striker who can score 15+ goals straight away takes pressure off the entire team. If Amorim can pair Vlahovic with Cunha and Mbeumo, it gives him a potent front line that can turn tight matches into wins – key to surviving scrutiny.
