VfL Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schäfer has backed Niko Kovac to stay on as head coach despite an underwhelming start to the season.
“We have to keep calm, we have to work. Because the criticism that is coming at us is justified when you have two points after five matchdays. Nevertheless, you only get this solved as a group,” Schäfer told ZDF following yesterday’s 2-4 home defeat against FC Köln.
The Wolfsburg boss went on to underline that Kovac is “very firmly” in the saddle.
Wolfsburg are still winless after the first five Bundesliga games and sit 16th in the Bundesliga with two points.
