Newcastle United are interested in signing defender Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid, according to CaughtOffside.
Under the guidance of Eddie Howe, Newcastle won their first piece of English silverware in 70 years in the 2024/25 season, beating Liverpool to lift the Carabao Cup. Not only that, but the Magpies finished fifth in the Premier League, securing Champions League football for the second time in three years.
In Howe’s tenure, Newcastle have established themselves as one of the best teams in the country. His team has a nice blend of youth and experience, something that Howe will no doubt hope to keep going in the upcoming summer transfer window, which the Magpies already have an eye on. According to recent reports, Newcastle are keen on bolstering their defensive options ahead of the new campaign.

CaughtOffside have reported that Nahuel Molina is of interest to Newcastle United. The 27-year-old, who is an international for Argentina, has been with Atletico since 2022 and has become a key part of their first team, though it now seems that Molina is seeking a move away from the club to somewhere that is “a competitive project” with “a strong chance of winning trophies.” Bids in the region of roughly £25-£30 million are expected for Molina.

Earlier this year, Kieran Trippier was linked with a move away from Newcastle and the club would need depth were he to depart. Tino Livramento is a promising talent and well-placed to succeed Trippier should he leave, though Newcastle would certainly need further reinforcements if a departure occurs.
In Molina, who has been deployed as both a wide midfielder and centre-back as well as in his natural position, Newcastle would be signing a player that has proven himself in the Champions League. The Magpies, being a part of next season’s competition, will be playing more games across the campaign and the signing of Molina would be a smart way for the club to open their transfer business.
