The Nerazzurri are looking to bolster their midfield in the transfer window, with veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s contract expiring at the end of the season.
The 36-year-old could be on the move as Inter are unlikely to hand him a renewal.
Lopez becomes the latest target to emerge on Inter’s wishlist as a potential replacement for the Armenian.
The Spaniard came to the fore with his stellar run in the Paris Olympics last year. He bagged six goals and two assists to help La Roja clinch the Gold medal.
He was also part of Luis de la Fuente’s squad that won the Euro 2024.
Lopez has translated that form to Barca this season, becoming a pivotal member of Hansi Flick’s side.
Despite not being a regular starter, Lopez’s contributions have been key in Barca achieving the domestic treble, racking up eight goals and nine assists in all competitions.
He scored the winning goal against Espanyol last week, which sealed the La Liga title for the Catalans.
The La Masia graduate also signed a contract extension until 2029 in October, which will make his transfer more complicated.
Moreover, Lopez is determined to build a long-term future with the Blaugrana, given his unwavering loyalty towards the club.
Inter’s transfer strategy hasn’t always been splurging on players, making Lopez a far-fetched target.
They have also shortlisted AS Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini and Como midfielder Nico Paz as possible targets.

The Italian giants are one step away from winning the elusive Champions League trophy as they will face Paris Saint-Germain in the finals later this month.
However, they could miss out on the Serie A trophy as they trail Napoli by one point with one game to go.
