Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
The Premier League champions have reportedly made significant progress in talks for the Dutch international, who is now set to become Arne Slot’s first summer signing at Anfield.
Frimpong is believed to be keen on a move to Merseyside, and discussions are ongoing regarding contract details, including salary and length of the agreement.
Liverpool are expected to activate the 24-year-old’s release clause, which stands at €35m (£30m), and bring him in as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer.

In talks over salary and length of contract
Romano, writing on X, revealed that talks between Liverpool and Frimpong’s camp over personal terms advanced again on Wednesday.
Frimpong has developed into a world-class wing-back during his time at Leverkusen and helped the German club win their first-ever Bundesliga title last season.
The ‘elite’ 24-year-old, praised as ‘one of the fastest footballers in the world’, has made 48 appearances across all competitions this term, scoring five goals and providing 12 assists, including five in the Champions League.
Liverpool are expected to target further defensive signings after finalising the deal for Frimpong, with Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez remaining a target at left-back.
The Reds are also exploring centre-back options and were recently linked with Bournemouth sensation Dean Huijsen, who is now in talks to join Real Madrid.
