£86m duo could still make late exit at Stamford Bridge

£86m duo could still make late exit at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are unlikely to offload Conor Gallagher or Armando Broja ahead of the fast-approaching deadline, although a Stamford Bridge exit is ‘not impossible’, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Gallagher and Broja returned from respective loan spells with Crystal Palace and Southampton at the end of last season, but they have been linked with a quickfire departure from west London.

What’s the latest news involving Gallagher and Broja?

Crystal Palace have been keen to seal Gallagher’s return to Selhurst Park and they headed to Chelsea with a £27million bid earlier this week.

However, that offer proved not to be enough and the 22-year-old has also been Newcastle United’s top target during the closing stages of the transfer window.

West Ham United have been keen on striking a deal for Gallagher as well, although only on a season-long loan.

The east Londoners have also shown an interest in Broja and were prepared to submit a £30million bid in July, but that move failed to come to fruition.

Everton and Newcastle United are additional admirers of the 20-year-old striker who has come through the Chelsea youth ranks.

What has Dean Jones said about the duo?

With less than an hour to go before the transfer window slams shut, Jones understands that it is unlikely that Gallagher or Broja will secure a move away from Chelsea.

However, the journalist believes it would be unwise to totally rule out the possibility of either man leaving Stamford Bridge.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s not impossible that Broja or Gallagher will go late in the window.

“But the briefings coming out at the moment are that it’s unlikely.”

How have Gallagher and Broja performed so far this season?

Gallagher and Broja may be valued at a combined £86million by the CIES Football Observatory, but they have found regular game-time hard to come by since returning from their respective loan spells.

Central midfielder Gallagher, a four-cap England international, has made two starts during the early stages of the campaign, but he was sent off within the opening half an hour as the Blues overcame Leicester City at the weekend.

Broja, meanwhile, has only been offered 39 minutes of action by head coach Thomas Tuchel since the new season got underway.

The 14-cap Albania international is still searching for his first goal in Chelsea colours and has not been named in a starting line-up following his return to Stamford Bridge from Southampton.
