Lewis Hamilton reflected on a Miami Grand Prix characterised by savage team radio exchanges and admitted that he and Ferrari need to work internally to keep improving after another disappointing result.
The seven-time F1 champion continued his trying start to life as a Ferrari driver after finishing in eighth position around the streets of Miami, with a clear gap behind the top teams that the Scuderia were expected to fight with for race wins and championships.
The SF-25 has failed to match the talents and ambitions of Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, and the team’s mid-race decision-making has once again come underfire due to taking too long to allow Hamilton to pass his teammate and attempt to take advantage of his faster tyres, leading to a series of sarcastic comments by the Brit over the radio.

Lewis Hamilton was really not in a good mood with his Ferrari team during the Miami Grand Prix, and boy did he let them know about it.
Hamilton was asked about how he felt about his Sunday race and the radio exchanges during his post-race interview with Sky Sports, and said that his messages were just a reflection of his frustrations about the team’s current pace predicament, while acknowledging that work needed to be done on being more decisive about strategy.
What Lewis Hamilton Said After Miami GP
Yet another damaging weekend for Ferrari
“I lost a lot of time behind Charles and in that moment, for sure, I was like ‘come on, let’s make a decision quick, let’s not waste time.’
“I’m sure people didn’t like certain comments, but you’ve got to understand, it’s frustrating. I was just like, ‘Come on, guys. I want to win’. I’ve still got that fire in my belly. I could feel a little bit of it really coming out there, and I’m not going to apologise for being a fighter, I’m not going to apologise for still wanting it.
“I know everyone in the team does too. I truly believe that when we fix some of the problems we have with the car, we’ll be back in the fight with Mercedes, with the Red Bulls. We’ll try something different at the next race, we’ll keep working on our processes.”
On a more positive end, he did admit that he enjoyed his Sunday race, fighting from 12th on the grid to finish eighth. Exciting battles with Haas’ Esteban Ocon and Williams’ Carlos Sainz Jr, as well as a late race chase of his Mercedes successor, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, added to what was an eventful feature race in the state of Florida.
While Sunday’s races have yet to meet expectations for Hamilton (a best finish of fifth in Bahrain), his Sprint results continue to be the high points of 2025. He made it two Sprint podiums out of two after finishing third on Saturday, thanks to both chaotic rain conditions and a perfectly timed switch to slick tyres.

Yet, he stands seventh in the Drivers’ Championship at 41 points, already 90 points behind leader Oscar Piastri, with hopes of an eighth title already on the brink of disappearing after just six races. Ferrari looked closer to the level of the mid-pack teams such as Williams and Haas than the podium-battling groups of Mercedes and Red Bull throughout the whole Miami weekend. Hamilton and Leclerc are both among the best drivers in the world right now, but they need more from their team in order to be where their talents belong, fighting for championships.
