Hertha ship Piatek back to Italy

Hertha BSC confirmed the successful completion of Krzysztof Piatek’s new loan arrangement on Tuesday. 

Krzysztof Piatek’s long ago reported upon loan-out to U.S. Salernitana 1919 in the Italian Serie A is finally through. Negotiations on the new loan deal to send the Polish striker back to Italy have been dragging on since late July, reportedly because the 27-year-old’s Bundesliga club had been trying to get the Erie A side to take on some of the attacker’s salary.
Piatek, an absolute transfer bust brought in during Jürgen Klinsmann’s ill-fated January 2020 transfer window, has not come anywhere close to finding his feet in German football. Unable to nail down a regular starting space in any of the various coaching regimes, the striker has seen his market value tumble from a peak of €27 million when he joined the capital city side to €12 million today.

No in formation about a potential shared-salary-arrangement with the Serie A side is available at this time. Hertha sporting CEO Fredi Bobic did confirm that Salernitana do have a purchase clause in the loan arrangement. Piatek, recently returned from a loan with Florence in the Series A, remains under contract with his German club through 2025. Bobic called the loan “an ideal solution for all sides.”
