An era is coming to an end at Darmstadt. The club announced that Tobias Kempe will leave at the end of the season after spending a total of ten seasons with the Lilies.
Sporting director Paul Fernie praised Kempe’s exceptional contributions, saying, “Tobi Kempe’s impact on the club is hard to put into words. He belongs to a rare category of players who not only represent a club but truly live and shape it over many years. I have the utmost respect for everything he has accomplished in Darmstadt.”
The 35-year-old midfielder first joined Darmstadt in 2014 from Dynamo Dresden. After a brief one-year spell with Nürnberg in 2016, he returned to the Lilies the following summer and has remained a key figure ever since.
It remains uncertain whether Kempe will continue his playing career or hang up his boots.
