Tottenham Hotspur have enquired about Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac in their search for Ange Postecoglou’s successor, according to BILD.
Postecoglou’s position has come under scrutiny this season, with Spurs languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table.
The Lilywhites are looking to bring in a new manager regardless of whether the Australian boss wins the Europa League. They face Bodo/Glimt in the semi-finals.
Spurs hold Kovac’s personality, experience and intense style of play in high regard.
Kovac replaced Nuhi Sarin as Dortmund’s head coach at the start of the year but has failed to meet the expectations.
He oversaw Die Borussen crashing out of the Champions League against Barcelona in the quarter-finals. The German giants are also seventh in the Bundesliga table, four points off Champions League places.
The Croatian gaffer previously managed Bayern Munich for a year between 2018 and 2019, during which he won a Bundesliga title, DFB-Pokal and DFL-SuperCup.
The catch for Spurs is that Dortmund are planning their next season with Kovac at the helm even if they fail to secure a Champions League spot.
Spurs have reached unprecedented lows this season, suffering 18 defeats – the fourth highest in the Premier League.
Postecoglou’s rift with the fans also appears to widen with each passing game.
The former Celtic boss is currently out of his depth, and Spurs need to go back to the drawing board at the end of the season, with a new manager the foremost priority.
The North Londoners have also added Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner, former boss Mauricio Pochettino and Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth to the list of potential managerial targets.

Spurs will look to make amends by finishing the season on a positive note – winning the rest of their league games and the Europa League.
