Thomas Müller has rejected a formal offer from Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati, according to Bild.
Cincinnati currently hold the MLS “Discovery Rights” to Müller, meaning no other MLS club can negotiate directly with him unless those rights are transferred.
A similar scenario played out when Marco Reus made his move to LA Galaxy last summer. At the time, Charlotte FC held the rights for Reus and reportedly received €350,000 to allow the deal to go through.
Müller has also turned down an approach from Serie A side Fiorentina, according to the German tabloid. The Italian club reportedly contacted his agent, but the 35-year-old showed little interest in a move to ‘Viola’.
As it stands, Müller’s future remains undecided. However, the Bayern Munich legend – set to leave the club after the Club World Cup this summer – clearly won’t be short on options.
