Eredivisie side Groningen are in talks with Augsburg to sign American international Ricardo Pepi (19) on a season-long loan, according to Sky Germany.
Augsburg’s record signing, who joined the Bundesliga club last summer for over €16m, has failed to establish himself with the Augsburg squad and although most the majority of his 16 appearances have come from the bench, the 10-time US international is yet to score in 582 minutes.
But before Pepi joins Groningen, there’s still some details that need to be clarified.
Augsburg today announced the signing of Mërgim Berisha (24) on a season-long loan from Fenerbahçe and with both Florian Niederlechner and summer arrival Ermedin Demirović also at the club, playing time for Pepi would be difficult to find under Enrico Maaßen, who was appointed head coach in the summer.
Die Fuggerstädter finished just five points above the relegation playoff last season and currently find themselves down in 14th with just three goals after four games.
