Sevilla have approached Atlético Madrid regarding the transfer of Álvaro Morata, as reported by Sergio Fernández at Relevo.
Los Nervionenses are in the market to strengthen their forwards department. Even though yesterday it was communicated that they are close to signing Adnan Januzaj on a free transfer, they also want to find a new striker.
They have submitted an enquiry to Atlético Madrid regarding the transfer of Morata. However, Los Colchoneros have set the 29-year-old’s fee to at least €40m, which Sevilla are not even close to meeting.
This is not the first time that Atlético Madrid have set high prices for their players in order to deter suitors, including for Morata. Following their 4-2 victory against Getafe in their first game of the season, in which Morata scored a brace, Atléti’s board proclaimed they will not consider offers below €60m.
Los Colchoneros also told Tottenham that they would have to pay Yannick Carrasco’s €60m release clause if they wish to sign him.
