Tottenham are eyeing a move to appoint Oliver Glasner this summer to replace Ange Postecoglou, but it would cost them £17m according to Christian Falk.
The Lilywhites have had a poor season and currently sit in 15th place in the Premier League table, but recently reached the Europa League semi-finals with an aggregate win over Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
But it seems highly unlikely that the Australian will still be in charge in North London next season, even if they win the tournament, and Crystal Palace boss Glasner is someone who has been identified as a replacement.
Tottenham Want ‘Incredible’ Glasner
Crystal Palace will demand £17m compensation
Austrian manager Glasner has been a revelation in the Premier League since taking over from Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park, being dubbed ‘incredible’ for his performances on the touchline.
That has seen him attract interest from the likes of Spurs and RB Leipzig, but Crystal Palace don’t want to lose their boss and have opened talks over a new deal to extend his time in south east London.
Glasner reportedly isn’t interested in a move to the Bundesliga as he wants to stay in the Premier League, which could open the door for a move to Spurs, but Crystal Palace are demanding at least €20m (£17m) to allow him out of his contract.
It remains unclear if Daniel Levy would be open to paying that much for Glasner to replace Postecoglou, and he isn’t the only target they have on their shortlist.
Spurs have also shown an interest in Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, but the Spaniard has reportedly rejected the opportunity to hold talks with them as he prefers to stay with the Cherries.
Fulham boss Marco Silva is also considered a target, and the Portuguese boss has an £8m release clause in his contract which could be more palatable for Levy to pay. Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi have also been linked, although they seem to be less likely to come to fruition.
