Wolverhampton Wanderers are in negotiations with West Ham United over a move for defender Craig Dawson, according to talkSPORT.
Wolves have already seen Romain Saiss leave on a free transfer and Conor Coady join Everton on loan.
Despite bringing in Nathan Collins from Burnley, they are looking for more reinforcements, especially with Willy Boly pushing for a move away from the Molineux Stadium this summer.
Bruno Lage has preferred a back three of Max Kilman, Nathan Collins, and Jonny Otto this season but has sometimes reverted to a back two of Kilman and Collins, leaving Boly to settle for a place on the bench.
The Ivorian has made it clear to the Wolves hierarchy that he wants to leave before the transfer window closes.
He did not join Lage’s team when they welcomed Newcastle United despite being named in the squad.
Nottingham Forest are the most interested and have already had a £1 million bid for the Ivory Coast international centre-half turned down by Wolves.
However, the 31-year-old may leave the Molineux before the transfer window closes on Thursday, and Wolves have now turned to Dawson to provide cover.
The 32-year-old made 50 appearances in all competitions under David Moyes last season and has also attracted interest from Aston Villa.
However, despite already adding Nayef Aguerd and Thilo Kehrer to the squad, the Hammers are reluctant to let the former Watford man leave.
Dawson has amassed a wealth of experience, having made over 200 Premier League appearances across spells with West Bromwich Albion, Watford, and West Ham.
He joined the Hammers on an initial loan deal two years ago and has made 74 appearances for the East London side.
He is yet to feature for the Hammers this season due to a thigh injury he picked up in preseason but is still very much in Moyes’ plans this season.
