Resurfaced Footage of a Young Paddy Pimblett Shows How Much he’s Changed

Resurfaced footage of a young and fresh-faced Paddy Pimblett, aged only 16 years old, shows just how much the sport of mixed martial arts has changed the fighter forever.

The interview shows Pimblett answering with only one or two words at a time, barely a conversationalist, but already a 3-0 prospect in MMA. In his very next fight, he signed to the leading European fight firm Cage Warriors, and embarked on a journey which saw him win a title with the organization, while generating one of the most impressive fan-bases that British MMA has ever produced.

It was not long, therefore, that Pimblett became an entirely different person as ‘The Baddy’ of the modern era is one of the most confident athletes in combat sports. And he’ll happily tell you all about it.

The teenager appeared to struggle with conversation yet is now one of the best talkers in the entire sport

Pimblett shares his nickname, how he got it, as well as other information like his age, where he’s from, and his pro MMA record. The clip shows Pimblett’s lack of media training, though his cheeky smile when saying he’s ‘The Baddy’

together with his rather hilarious response to a question regarding his preparations for his next fight shows that his sense of humour was alive from a young age.

When the reporter asked: “How have you been preparing for this fight?” Pimblett gives a direct answer, with a smile.

Though he suffered losses during his time in Cage Warriors, he’s an unbeaten fighter since joining the UFC’s big leagues, and has even beaten Tony Ferguson, King Green, and Michael Chandler in successive fights. His victory over Chandler, in which he bloodied and finished the American, was arguably the signature win of his career. The manner of the beatdown, together with his momentum, suggests he’s only getting started.

Pimblett’s win over Chandler catapulted him up the UFC rankings by four positions as he’s now gatecrashed the top-10 at No.8 after the champion Islam Makhachev. Though it is as yet unclear whom Pimblett could fight next, bouts against the likes of No.5-ranked Dan Hooker or even No.3-ranked Justin Gaethje, appear excellent on paper. If he keeps on winning, it may not be long before he is thrust into a UFC title shot against Makhachev.
