Hugo Ekitike’s Highlights vs Tottenham Emerge Amid Liverpool Transfer Links

Liverpool-linked Hugo Ekitike enjoyed a fruitful night in north London as Eintracht Frankfurt and Tottenham Hotspur saw out a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final – and the Anfield faithful have had their say on the 22-year-old.

Not only did the young Frenchman score a lovely, driven effort within six minutes to put his side ahead – but his all-round play, before being replaced by Elye Wahi with one minute left of regulation time, was more than impressive.

His well-taken strike aside, he was a constant menace for the Tottenham defence: he completed 50% (1/2) of his dribble attempts and won five duels altogether. What’s most impressive about the centre-forward is the intangible aspect of his game.

As evidenced by the footage below, he’s quick and unpredictable with the ball at his feet. Linking up well with teammates and opting for the measured approach when attacking is also his forte – the recipe for success, some would say.

Liverpool fans, upon watching his highlights reel from their all-important clash with Spurs, have implored Arne Slot and his entourage to sign Ekitike. As things stand, the five-cap France U21 international’s contract runs out in the summer of 2029.

One, excited about the prospect of adding to their attacking options in the summer, reeled off the Frankfurt hotshot’s list of attributes (his combination link-up play and strength, most notably) that could see him suited to the Reds’ style of play.

Who is Man Utd and Arsenal Transfer Target Hugo Ekitike

The Frenchman has been linked with a big-money to the Premier League this summer.

“First time I’ve watched Ekitike, very impressed. He seems to have a bit of everything, great link-up, gets his team up the pitch, presses well & he’s definitely not weak.”

“I’ve seen enough, sign Ekitike right now. He has to be a Liverpool player as soon as the window opens.” another fan said. One simply put: “Sign Ekitike. That’s all.”

“Perspective: Isak at Ekitike’s age was not as good,” one supporter claimed before reminding fellow fans of Isak’s record while he was on the books of Real Sociedad. “Newcastle signed Isak at age 22 after he scored 6 goals in 32 matches in La Liga.”

“You aren’t signing a 25-year-old Ekitike, you are signing a 22-year-old who has scored 13 goals this season in a club where [Omar] Marmoush was the main goal scorer for half of the season. If you don’t sign them early, it’s impossible to do so later. You pay for potential.”

As Liverpool’s season, which may contain another Premier League title come May, edges towards its conclusion, there are naturally murmurs over who will be coming through the doors in the summer. Could Reims-born Ekitike be that man?

As things stand, the Dutchman has Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota – two players that have failed to jump off the page – at his disposal, but it’s certain that the 46-year-old tactician will be looking to upgrade once the summer trading period swings open.
