FC Köln are being forced into a late transfer market surge due to the growing list of injured players, according to Bild.
Previously, it had been reported that Köln were satisfied with their transfer activity and weren’t looking to bring in any more new recruits.
However, after suffering more injuries in their 0-0 draw to Stuttgart, the billy goats are being forced to look for new players to cover key positions.
As per the report, the players on the current Köln injury list include Mathias Olesen, Eric Martel, Benno Schmitz, Jeff Chabot, Luca Kilian, and Timo Hübers.
With three of those players being central defenders, Köln are suddenly looking less confident at the back.
This also coincides with the side’s first season juggling both domestic and European football for the first time in several years.
Sports director Christian Keller explained: “The injuries have created a new situation. We will explore the transfer market in the next few days and see if we can strengthen our defense again in a meaningful way.”
