Presnel Kimpembe (29) made his first Ligue 1 appearance in over two years when he came off the bench in Paris Saint-Germain’s 6-1 win over AS Saint-Étienne on Saturday
Kimpembe’s last Ligue 1 match dated back to 26th February 2023. He was forced to undergo back-to-back surgeries on an achilles tendon injury. Since the second operation, undergone right at the end of 2023, he has been on the recovery trail.
The Frenchman had been included in previous matchday squads this season, including as far back as November 2024, before making his return to professional football when he came on during the last 10 minutes in PSG’s Coupe de France win over Le Mans (2-0) on 4th February. Since then, he has made a brief appearance against Stade Brestois in the UEFA Champions League, as well as in another Coupe de France fixture.
However, the Frenchman was still yet to feature in Ligue 1 until Saturday. Coming off the bench in the 78th minute, Kimpembe inherited the armband and made his first league appearance in 762 days.
