BILD report today that RB Leipzig forward Alexander Sørloth (26) will undergo a medical with Spanish side Real Sociedad before joining on a one-year loan deal without an option to buy.
Fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach had also shown interest in signing Sørloth after negotiations to sign NK Osijek forward Dion Drena Beljo (20) stalled. Die Fohlen want to add a striker before the September 1 deadline with Marcus Thuram’s future still unclear.
RB Leipzig will receive around €1.5m for Sørloth, who spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad, but are unlikely to invest that in a new defender despite a desire to do so before the transfer deadline. The Norwegian arrives in Spain as a replacement for Alexander Isak, who joined Newcastle United for a club record €70m.
Signing Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah on loan was Leipzig’s priority but the Englishman played 90 minutes against Leicester City on Saturday and is unlikely to leave the West London club.
