The 33-year-old net-minder himself also spoke on his contract extension talks with his current club.
Sommer still sits on an expiring contract. Negotiations about a potential extension have proceeded in an off-and-on fashion over the course of the offseason. For his part, BMG sporting director Roland Virkus lauded his keeper’s “world class performance” in tonight’s draw.
Whether tonight’s draw affects Sommer’s desire to continue his career with the Westphalians remains to be seen, but the 33-year old couldn’t help but let emphatically positive words about his current club slip in his own gleeful post-match interview.
“I’ve been here for eight years,” Sommer noted, “I wouldn’t have been here so long if I didn’t fit it in. This has become a family for me. Now we’ll sit down together and talk about it over the next few days. We’ll let you know when there’s something to tell.”
