Speaking to Sky Germany after RB Leipzig’s 2-0 win against Wolfsburg, Austrian midfielder Konrad Laimer (25) confirmed that he won’t be joining Bayern Munich this summer.
When asked whether his move to the Bundesliga champions was over, Laimer replied: “Um, yes.” The Austria international has entered the final year of his contract at RB Leipzig.
Earlier this week, RB Leipzig rejected a final approach from Bayern Munich for Laimer. Julian Nagelsmann’s side had submitted a third offer of €24m including bonuses for Laimer – €20m plus a further €2m should Bayern win the league and another €2m upon winning the Champions League.
RB Leipzig have remained strong on their stance that Laimer would remain at the Saxony club this summer. Speaking in July, CEO Oliver Mintzlaff stated that they would be happy to keep the Austrian at the club this summer, and to not collect a transfer fee for the player in 2023.
Injured in the opening two Bundesliga games, Laimer returned against Union Berlin and played the full 90 minutes in their 2-0 win against Wolfsburg on Saturday.
