After Julian Nagelsmann extended his contract as Germany coach until 2028, there has been speculation that German Football Association sporting director Rudi Völler could follow suit.
DFB president Bernd Neuendorf recently confirmed in an interview with Sky Germany that he wants to sit down with Völler to discuss extending the 64-year-old’s contract beyond 2026.
For the time being, however, Völler himself wants to focus on the task at hand against Italy.
“My heart is with Julian Nagelsmann and the team. But the most important thing is that we win on Sunday and then have the Final Four in Germany. Then we’ll see,” Völler told ARD television after Germany’s 2-1 UEFA Nations League quarter-final first leg win over Italy in Milan on Thursday.
The return leg will be played in Dortmund on Sunday evening.
